Although he grew up in Roslyn, New York, Dr Barry Waldman has become a die-hard Baltimore sports fan. Waldman enjoys following his favorite local sports teams including the Baltimore Ravens and the Baltimore Orioles. Every season, he loves to take his family out to Oriole Park or M&T Bank Stadium to catch a game.
The Baltimore Ravens are a professional football team based in Maryland and by far a favorite team for Dr Barry Waldman. The team makes up part of the AFC North Division in the NFL. The Ravens are a relatively new team in the National Football League, established in 1996. The team originated when Cleveland Browns owner, Art Modell, made plans to relocate his franchise to Baltimore. Modell brought his own team and personnel along with him to Baltimore to form an expansion team, the Baltimore Ravens. The team is named after the famous poem “The Raven” by Edgar Allen Poe. Poe spent sometime living in Baltimore in his early career and was laid to rest in the city.
Despite being one of the newer teams in the NFL, the Baltimore Ravens have seen great success throughout the years. They have two Super Bowl titles from the years 2000 and 2012. Since 2000 the team has almost consistently made the playoffs each year and have been solid contenders for more championship titles. Dr Barry Waldman is excited to see how the team will continue to grow and succeed in the future.
The Baltimore Orioles are the favorite professional baseball team in Maryland and of Dr Barry Waldman, named after the state bird. The Orioles have been established in Baltimore as part of the East Division in the American League (AL) since 1954. The team has three World Series titles held in 1966, 1970, and 1983. While the Orioles suffered a stretch of losses from the 1998 to 2011 seasons, the team has since come back to do some damage, earning a division title and advancing to the American League Championship Series in 2014.
